A cross line or multi-line laser level projects bright, self-levelled reference lines onto walls, floors and ceilings, so one person can set out cabinets, ceilings, tiles, framing and fixtures faster and more accurately than with a spirit level. Below are our top 5 laser levels and top 3 laser receivers, picked from the current range we stock and the models our customers buy most, with the specs that matter side by side.

Which laser level should I buy?
Most popular cross line laser: geo-FENNEL Geo1X-GREEN
The geo-FENNEL Geo1X-GREEN is the laser level our customers buy most. It projects one bright green laser cross with ±3 mm at 10 m accuracy, runs on 4 AA batteries, and can be locked for angled lines such as stair rails. With a receiver in pulse mode, its 30 m working radius extends to 70 m. It suits renovations, shelving, electrical and general fit-out work where you only need one wall at a time.
Best all-rounder: geo-FENNEL Axeo 3D
The geo-FENNEL Axeo® 3D is our first recommendation when you want every wall, the floor and the ceiling covered from one position. Its three 360° green lines form six laser crosses. Fine side adjustment keeps the laser cross on your mark while you rotate the vertical line, each line switches on separately, and it comes with a remote control, a height-adjustable multifunctional mount, a ceiling-rail adapter and a USB-C rechargeable Li-Ion battery. Accuracy is ±3 mm at 10 m, with a 30 m working radius that extends to 60 m with a receiver in pulse mode.
Highest accuracy: geo-FENNEL FLG 70 GREEN
The geo-FENNEL FLG 70 GREEN is built for work where every millimetre counts, such as ceilings, partitions and commercial fit-outs. Motorised self-levelling holds ±1 mm at 10 m. It projects a 360° horizontal line, four vertical lines at 90° to each other, a plumb cross on the ceiling and a plumb beam to the floor. The remote control tilts the laser plane in coarse or fine steps for slopes, and the laser has an integrated floor tripod. Its working radius is 30 m, or 80 m with a receiver.
Longest run time: Leica LINO L6G-1
The Leica LINO L6G-1 is the pick for builders and fit-out contractors who want a full 3 x 360° laser that lasts all day. It levels to ±0.2 mm per metre (±2 mm at 10 m), self-levels over ±4°, and runs up to 11 hours on its Li-Ion pack, with AA batteries as a backup. Its working radius is 35 m, or 70 m with the Leica RGR 200 receiver. It is also available as a kit with the RGR 300-D digital receiver, or as the L6G All-in-One Pro Kit with a receiver and tripod.
Eight-line layout: Bear Servo 360GP
The Bear Servo 360GP projects four horizontal and four vertical green lines plus a plumb point for full 360° layout, accurate to ±1 mm at 10 m. It self-levels over ±3.5°, works up to 70 m with a detector, and runs more than 8 hours on rechargeable batteries, on 4 AA batteries, or from the mains adapter. It comes in a heavy-duty carry case with laser glasses, a target, rechargeable batteries and a charger.
Just Want One Line?
We are often asked for a laser that projects just one bright line, usually one that can be seen outdoors or across a long distance. That is a different product category from the laser levels above. A cross line or multi-line laser level is a self-levelling layout tool, while a single-line laser is mounted in place and aimed at the job. If what you need is a level reference outdoors, such as for site levels, concreting, drainage or fencing, a rotary laser level is generally the better choice. See our rotary laser level buying guide.
If you need the visible line itself, for alignment, positioning or marking, our pick is the Z-LASER MagicLine. It projects a single green 520 nm line with a 70° fan angle at 600 mW while remaining Laser Class 2M, and Z-LASER describes it as the world's brightest eye-safe laser in its class. That brightness is why it is used where a standard laser line is hard to see, such as outdoors and in brightly lit work areas. The line width is set with a manual focus, the housing is IP67 rated, and it runs from a 12–24 VDC supply or a mains power supply. It is used in transport and logistics, timber, glass and stone processing, and machine vision.

Top 3 Laser Receivers for Line Lasers
A laser receiver (also called a laser detector) picks up the laser line electronically when it is too faint to see, such as in bright sunlight or over long distances. Set the laser to pulse mode, mount the receiver on a staff or clamp, and it beeps and shows on screen when you are on the line.

The Onyx Omni 60 is the receiver we sell most. It detects red and green beams from both line and rotary lasers, with a 0.5 mm digital readout, so one receiver covers every laser on site. It is also offered as an add-on with the FLG 70 GREEN and the Bear Servo 360GP. The Leica RGR 300-D is the match for Leica LINO lasers (P5, L2, L2G, L2P5, L2P5G, L6R and L6G) and shows how far you are above or below the line in millimetres on both sides. The geo-FENNEL FR 75-MM pairs with geo-FENNEL line lasers such as the Geo1X-GREEN, Geo4-XR and FLG 70 GREEN, has an extra-long 100 mm receiving window and is IP65 rated.

Laser Level Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best laser level in Australia?
It depends on the job. For single-wall work, the geo-FENNEL Geo1X-GREEN cross line laser is our most popular choice. For full-room layout, a green 3 x 360° multi-line laser gives the most value, and our top pick is the geo-FENNEL Axeo 3D. For the tightest accuracy, choose the geo-FENNEL FLG 70 GREEN (±1 mm at 10 m), and for the longest run time, the Leica LINO L6G-1 (up to 11 hours).
How much does a laser level cost?
For a budget of around $250, the geo-FENNEL Geo1X-GREEN is our best-selling cross line laser. Around $500 buys a green 3 x 360° multi-line laser such as the geo-FENNEL Axeo 3D or Imex ELX4. Professional lasers with longer run times, tighter accuracy or more lines suit a budget of around $1,000 to $2,000, such as the Leica LINO L6G-1 (around $1,000), the Bear Servo 360GP (around $1,250) and the geo-FENNEL FLG 70 GREEN (around $1,750). A line laser receiver adds around $200 to $500, and kits with a laser, receiver and tripod suit a budget of around $1,250 to $1,500.
Should I buy a green or red laser level?
Green. The human eye sees green laser light as much brighter than red, and Leica rates its green LINO lines as about four times more visible than red. That makes green lines easier to see in bright rooms and across larger spaces. Red lasers cost less and are fine for small indoor jobs.
What is the difference between a cross line and a 3 x 360° laser?
A cross line laser projects one horizontal and one vertical line in front of it, which suits single-wall jobs like shelving, switchboards and picture hanging. A 3 x 360° laser projects a horizontal line and two vertical lines all the way around the room, forming six laser crosses, so you can work on every wall, the floor and the ceiling without moving the laser.
What does laser level accuracy mean?
Accuracy is how far the line can deviate from true level over a set distance. ±2 mm at 10 m means the line is within 2 mm of perfectly level 10 m from the laser. For cabinetry, tiling and ceilings, ±2 mm at 10 m or better is a good target, and ±1 mm at 10 m suits precision fit-out.
Can I use a line laser outdoors?
Yes, for short jobs, by switching the laser to pulse mode and using a laser receiver, because the line is hard to see in sunlight. If most of your work is outdoors, such as site levelling, concreting or excavation, a rotary laser level is the better tool. See our rotary laser level buying guide.
